Delays and refusals often arise when the application does not give CQC enough confidence that the proposed service is ready, consistent and safely led.
Incomplete or inconsistent information
Different addresses, service descriptions or regulated activities across the form and statement of purpose can create uncertainty. Complete a final cross-document review.
Unsuitable or unclear leadership arrangements
Applicants should clearly show who is accountable, how leaders are available and why their skills and experience fit the service.
Generic policies
Policies should match the organisation, service-user group and real operational systems. Copying documents without understanding them can become obvious during assessment.
Weak financial viability
The forecast should show realistic income assumptions, staffing costs, working capital and how the service will remain safe before revenue grows.
Poor interview preparation
Leaders should be able to explain safeguarding, governance, complaints, risk, staffing and quality assurance in practical terms. Memorised phrases are less useful than genuine understanding.
Need practical support?
If you receive feedback or a notice, respond carefully to the specific points raised and show exactly what has changed. Consider regulated legal advice where appropriate.
